While we all deal with different forms of rejection in our everyday lives, romantic rejection is one of the hardest to deal with. But whether it’s being rejected by a love interest or failure to be accepted by your peers, it’s important to know how to deal with rejection as it may affect you psychologically.

One of the deepest needs of humans is the need to belong and to be accepted”. In order to make the process less painful, we have put together a few tips to help you get through it.
1. Tell yourself it will pass
Just like every bad phase in life, you have to remember that you won’t feel like this forever. It’s only a temporary phase, which you may be thankful for in the future as you might end up meeting someone else who proves to be better for you.
2. Keep yourself busy
An idle mind can wander off into dark deep thoughts, which can be harmful to your psyche. This is the best time to join the gym and get some physical activity going. Pour your feelings and agitation into more physical activities, which can also be great for your revenge body! Exercise can sometimes be addictive but in this case, it’s a beneficial addiction.
3. Take up a new hobby
You can direct your energy towards learning a new skill, besides exercise, the challenge will keep your mind busy. This will also give you an opportunity to focus on yourself, satisfy your mental needs rather than wallow in self-pity.
4. Meet new people
Get active through social media, attend events and mingle! You’ll get to dress up and put some effort into your appearance, and nothing feels good like some new attention to distract you from the drama. You can also build a new contact list for your future dates when you’re ready to get back into the dating scene.
5. Learn from your rejection
While you need to move on with life after rejection, it’s also important to note what went wrong. If it’s something you did, which might have caused a reaction in return, it would be wise to learn from the experience in order to make better judgments in the future.
6. Don’t let the rejection define you
Many times the fear of rejection can get in the way of your life. Try not to let it stop you from making decisions and being yourself as rejection is part of life and should not hinder you from living your dreams.
7. Therapy might help
If you’ve tried everything and you’re still in a dark place then it might be time to try out some therapy. Talking to a professional about it will give you some personal insights, which you might not recognise on your own.
