How I Would Like To Be Remembered—–Gov Ikpeazu Reveals

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has revealed that posterity would remember him for maintaining lasting peace and security in addition to advancing the frontiers of development in the state.

 

Governor Ikpeazu stated this at the Micheal Okpara Auditorium Umuahia,during the unveiling and public presentation of a book in his honor entitled, “The Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Trajectory – An Eye-Witness Account” written by Barr. Sam Hart.

 

The book, which has 289 pages with 55 articles chronicles the towering achievements of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration in the past seven years as Governor of Abia State.

 

The Governor while commending the Author, described him as an ardent listener, teachable and always ready to learn, noting that he is eminently qualified to stand as an eyewitness of his administration.

 

Ikpeazu further disclosed that he would like to be remembered for the various socio political and economic impacts and landmark projects executed by his adminstration especially, the construction of the Osisioma Interchange built to encourage ease of doing business in Aba, connecting major markets in Aba through road constructions and reconstructions, building of industries for shoe and garment among others.

“I want to be remembered as the Governor who gave Abia people peace in the face of the growing insecurity challenges across the Country, we have seen the Operation Python Dance, Endsars Protest and COVID-19 at the end of it all, God intervened and we have able to move ahead.

 

“I want to be remembered as somebody that has initiated master plan for Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia in collaboration with UN Habitat. I am believing God that before we exit in 2023, we will be able to deliver a world class master plan for Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia”, Ikpeazu said.

 

Earlier in his speech, the author and General Manager, Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency (ASMQMA) Barr. Sam Hart explained that the book is an eye witness account of the Governor’s activities and contributions to the development of Abia State.

 

Barr Hart who also doubles as Governor Ikpeazu’s Special Adviser on Public Communications said he was motivated to write the book considering the fact that the Governor is an enigma who has done well in office and whose contributions must be chronicled for the posterity.

 

The event which was attended by an array of dignitaries, was chaired by Dr. Christian Ike while the commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr Eze Chikamnayo reviewed the book.
