Rwandan female referee, Salima Mukansanga became the first woman to officiate an Africa Cup of Nations match when she oversaw the Group B encounter between Guinea and Zimbabwe at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on Tuesday.
About a week ago, Mukansanga made another history when she became the first female referee to be appointed a fourth official in the game between Guinea and Malawi in Bafoussam.
She is experienced in officiating women’s football including the Women’s World Cup, Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, and the CAF Women’s Champions League.
