Higher Rank, Higher Expectations: Otti Sets New Bar For Security Team

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has declared that elevation in service must be matched by higher standards of leadership, discipline and accountability, as he decorated eight newly promoted security personnel attached to his office.

Speaking on Friday at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, the Governor said promotion was not merely a reward for past performance but a call to greater responsibility and improved conduct.

The promoted officers comprise six personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and two operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Addressing the officers during the brief ceremony, Governor Otti reminded them that advancement in rank comes with heightened expectations.

As I have always said, the reward for hard work is more work and we expect that this will be the least you will attain in your careers.

As you move up, ensure you make impact; wherever you are, distinguish yourselves for good and let people see that you are giving extra effort and going the extra mile to achieve results”, the Governor said.

He stressed that as officers rise through the ranks, they must demonstrate increased dedication, resilience and integrity, noting that leadership positions demand exemplary conduct.

To whom much is given, much is expected. What will be required of you is dedication, hard work and resilience. Encourage yourselves, be confident and always do the right thing”, he admonished.

Governor Otti further urged the officers not to be disheartened by mistakes, stressing that no one is perfect and advised them to correct errors, learn from them and avoid repeating the same missteps.

The Governor assured the officers of continued support from his administration and prayed for sustained progress and greater accomplishments in their careers

Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, a senior DSS operative, Mr Obiora Maduka, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and described his posting to the Governor’s security team as providential.

Mr Maduka said it was an honour to serve in the Governor’s security detail, adding that since his appointment he had imbibed the virtues of perseverance and patience.
