Guber Election: Women public servants pledges to vote Ikpeazu

Women public servants under the aegis of Abia Women Public Servants Association (ABSWPSA), have vowed to give the governor of the state an overwhelming vote come March 2.

The women who made this known in Umuahia through their ABSWPSA president, Mrs Charity Ukonu, during the association’s 11th year anniversary, pledged their total support to the re-election bid of the governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, appreciating his leadership style

According to Mrs Ukonu, the governor has been able to introduce the school feeding program that has helped in eradicating hunger among children whose parents cannot afford breakfast, as well as instilled concentration among the pupils.

She said all women public servants in Abia,should come out enmesse to cast their votes for a governor who did not think of downsizing the civil service despite the little allocation.

Mrs Ukonu said their children now go to school without the fear of school fees because the governor now pay salaries promptly, promising that the women would reciprocate his kind gesture by giving him a massive vote.

Meanwhile, she said ABSWPSA is a body established in order to bring Abia women in the public service together, in view of the inestimable roles women play in the economy and nation building, stressing that ABSWPSA have been able to create a robust platform for better interaction and accelerated attainment of their goals.

Responding,the governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu praised the sincerity and commitment of the women towards his government, saying that he would not disappoint the confidence reposed on him, if re-elected.

The governor who was represented by his deputy Sir Ude Oko Chukwuemeka, said despite the court distractions that took a larger part of his administration, he has been able to construct several roads, renovate schools across the state, as well as get approval for the Enyimba Economic City which will in ten years of operation, provide over 700,000 jobs.

While lauding the women for the prayer and fasting organised for the governor and the safety of every Abian during the electioneering period, thanked them for the diligence and activeness they exact in their work places.

Responding to questions from journalists,the deputy governor said the PDP in the state is ready to sweep the whole polling booths in the various INEC wards, revealing that the party has been going through an intensive campaign from ward to ward, expressing optimism that the party would record a landslide victory in the February and March polls.
