Govt warns market executives against indiscriminate erection of stalls

Abia State deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has warned the leadership of Aba shopping centre to stop further erection of any structure within the flower pot area of the market.

Sir Oko Chukwu who gave the warning when he held meeting with chairmen and secretaries of all the 18 zones in the shopping centre at Government House Umuahia said that the indiscriminate building of structures account for the problem of flood not only in the market but in Aba metropolis.

He stated that some of the issues raised by them were very simple noting that their only problem remains that of leadership tussle whereby every leadership that comes on board would like to build shops in that market.

According to him, he decided to invite and interact with all the zonal leaders and their secretaries as to get to the root cause of their problems facing them as well urged them to cooperate with their leadership to ensure that peace reigns in their market.

Sir Oko Chukwu assured them that the state government will not relent in fulfilling ts campaign promises to Abia by providing the enabling environment for them to do their businesses as well appealed to them to pay all the government approved levies.

Sir Oko Chukwu appreciated their responses and assured them that government is ever ready to assist them solve the problems facing them.

In their responses, Mr Ifeanyuchukwu Ahanihu and Mr Udoka James who spoke on behalf of other zonal Chairmen identified leadership tussles as their greatest problem and they appealed to the state government to allow the conduct of election as the only solution to the problem.

They assured the state government that they would continue to support and cooperate with the state government by paying all the approved levy.
