Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has expressed joy at the victory of his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike at the Elections Petitions Tribunal.
The Rivers State Elections Petition Tribunal on Monday dismissed the petition of the African Action Alliance against the election of Governor Nyesom Wike for lacking in merit.
Describing the victory as clear revalidation of the mandate overwhelmingly given to Governor Wike by the good people of Rivers State, Ikpeazu urged him to see the victory as a call to redouble his efforts towards the delivery of more dividends of democracy to his people.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Ikpeazu also saluted courage of the learned Judges of the Tribunal for “boldly resisting the attempt to use the judicial process to subvert the collective will of the people of Rivers State and for rightly striking out a petition which was procedurally incoherent and a waste of scarce judicial time”.
Ikpeazu stated that the victory belongs to the entire people of Rivers State and the Peoples Democratic Party.
“On behalf of my family, government and good people of Abia State, I rejoice with you on this landmark judicial imprimatur on your mandate”. Ikpeazu concluded.
