Governor Otti Gives Stern Warning To Communities Against Harbouring Criminals

In a resolute stance against criminal activities, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has issued a stern warning to individuals and communities harboring criminals within the state, saying those aiding and abetting criminal activities will face severe consequences.

The Governor’s warning comes amidst rising concerns over security challenges, including incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities plaguing the state.

The proactive stance in tackling security challenges by the present administration further reinforces the state’s commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for all.

Otti who issued the warning in Umuahia, during the official inauguration of the of the state’s security initiative, codenamed “Operation Crush”, expressed determination to ensure the safety of citizens and investors alike.

He emphasized that no part of Abia would be a safe haven for criminals and urged community leaders, and stakeholders to actively cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing vital information that could aid in identifying and apprehending criminals.

Governor Otti underscored that anyone found to be sheltering criminals would face the full force of the law, as the state was committed to eradicating criminal elements and maintaining a secure environment.

“The full force of the law shall be applied in dealing with landlords, traditional rulers, leaders of the various markets and heads of different settler communities who harbour or provide any form of assistance to individuals who threaten the security of the state”, Otti asserted.

He further called upon citizens to unite in the fight against crime, emphasizing that collective efforts were crucial in upholding peace and security.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, on behalf of other sister security agencies in the state, lauded Governor Otti for his unwavering commitment to curbing criminal activities and stated that the security agencies were prepared to work tirelessly to achieve the governor’s vision of a crime-free Abia.

The official launch of “Operation Crush”, security initiative also featured the donation of 20 branded Hilux Vans to security agencies in the state by the Abia state Government.

The event was attended by the state service commanders of the Police force, the Department of State Security(DSS), Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Army, and other Stakeholders including Traditional rulers.
