Governor Otti, Former Abia Speakers Inspect Road Projects, Calls for Accelerated Action Ahead Of Rainy Season

 

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged contractors working on various road projects in Aba, the state’s commercial hub, to accelerate their efforts to ensure the completion of the roads before the onset of rains.

Governor Otti gave the directive during his inspection of ongoing road constructions in Aba and environs, accompanied by former Speakers of the Abia State House of Assembly, under the auspices of the Conference of Former Speakers.


Addressing the people at various spots, the Governor emphasized the strategic and economic significance of the roads, and urged contractors to expedite the work for early utilization.

While expressing confidence in the contractors’ capabilities to deliver according to specifications, Governor Otti commended their progress and thanked residents and shop owners along the routes for their support and cooperation to the contractors.

“The contractors are trying but I want them to do more because I don’t want the rains to meet them here .They have the capacity and I know they can achieve that.

“I want to thank you for supporting the contractors,giving them all the maximum cooperation.I also want to thank you for going through all the inconveniences to ensure this road is done to the highest standard”.


He said that the inspection was aimed at ensuring compliance with specifications and assess the progress of the road works.

Speaking on behalf of the former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka commended the efforts of Governor Otti, expressing deep satisfaction with the initiatives and projects implemented under his leadership.


Ohajuruka while noting the importance of good governance, said that although the former Speakers are from different political parties, they are “deeply impressed” with Governor Otti and encouraged him not to relent in bringing democracy dividends to the people.

He stated that the era of politics has passed and highlighted that one does not have to be affiliated with the same political party to recognize positive developments.

Also speaking ,Rt. Hon Christopher Enweremadu expressed happiness with the Governor for achieving results within a short frame of time and for meeting the expectations of the people of the state and prayed God to help him to accomplish more for Abians.


Roads inspected during the tour included Pepples Road, Ndoki Road, Old Court Road, Ehi Road, Port Harcourt Road, Omuma Road, Industrial Road, Umuodu Avenue, University Road, all in Aba, and Mgbedeala-Omoba Road in Isialangwa South LGA.

 

Other members of the Conference of Former Speakers of Abia State House of Assembly who accompanied Governor Otti on the road inspection tour were Rt. Hons Arua Arusi, Agwu U. Agwu, Ude Okochukwu , Martins Azubuike and Chikwendu Kalu.
