It was an atmosphere of love, conviviality and reunion at the Umuagbom-Umukabia ground Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA as the Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu was honoured with the Chieftaincy title of “Ezi Nwanne Di Na Mba of Umuobiakwa -Umukabia” by the Umuobiakwa Village of Umukabia Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.
Speaking after receiving the award during the 2nd Umuobiakwa Day , Launching of ten million Naira for the completion of her Civic Hall and award giving ceremony held at the Umuagbom-Umukabia ground, Governor Ikpeazu expressed joy over the ability of their Brothers from Umukabia Ohuhu to trace their kingsmen from Obingwa LGA.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu represented by an Elderstatesman from Umuobiakwa Village in Obingwa LGA Chief Obinna Rowland Njoku thanked the Umuobiakwa Village for the honor done him and pleged to always identify with them even as he promised to keep making human capital development the fulcrum of his administration.
In their remarks at the event some other awardees including the member representing Umuahia North state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Sir Kelechi Onuzuruike represented by Chief William Ekeleme and a stakeholder Chief Victor Ikeji ,Chief Okechukwu Ukwu,Chief Osondu Nwankwo, Dr Evans Chinyere Ogbonna, the Chairman Ariaria International market Aba Elder Chukwuemeka Igara among others said that the award will spur them for greater Services to Humanity and lauded the people of Umuobiakwa for the sense of unity among them.
Earlier while conferring the Chieftaincy title on the Governor, the traditional Ruler of Umukabia Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community Eze Uzo Nwosu and the Chairman on the occasion Chief Enyinnaya Emelogu said that the honor is in recognition of the Governor’s long standing relationship with the people of Umukabia and Ohuhu in general and lauded his Developmental strides across the state.
In their separate speeches, the Village Head Umuobiakwa and palace secretary Umukabia Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community Chief Chukwuemeka Nzechukwu, the Chairman Umuobiakwa Village Hon. Iheanyi Echeta and chairman planning committee Chief Akujobi Echeta said that the event is historic as it marks the formal coming together of the Umuobiakwa people of Umukabia and Obingwa LGA and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his supportive role in making the day a reality.
They equally eulogized the traditional Ruler of Umukabia Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community HRM Eze Uzo Nwosu for his immense support to the Umuobiakwa village and prayed God to keep strengthening him and the royal family for greater Services to God and Humanity, while also expressed deep gratitude to the founder Nelly Onyinyechi Okenkpu Foundation for Community and Human Development incorporated for cash gifts and for empowering some members of the community with tricycles.
The event which featured the handover of Four brand new tricycles donated by the President and founder of Nelly Onyinyechi Okenkpu Foundation for Community and Human Development and worthy daughter of Umukabia Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community Ms Nelly Onyinyechi Okenkpu to selected members of the community, was graced by prominent Sons and Daughters of the Umuobiakwa Villages of Obingwa and Umukabia, traditional Rulers including Eze Paul Uzuegbu,Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe,Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi,The wife of the traditional Ruler of Umukabia Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community Ugoeze Professor Ngozi Uzo-Nwosu, President General Ohuhu Welfare Union Chief Obi Aguocha among other distinguished Abians.
