Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has solicited for the moral and spiritual support of the Church to enable his administration achieve its visions for the state.
Governor Ikpeazu made the plea when he received in audience a delegation of the Representatives of the leadership of the Anglican Diocese of Aba led by Bishop Christian Ugwuzo, at the Governor’s Lodge Aba.
He noted that the task of developing the state requires equal efforts of all and sundry especially the body of Christ.
While reaffirming his commitment to do more in the years ahead,Governor Ikpeazu said his administration will focus on job creation through promotion of Trade and Commerce as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Ikpeazu who described the Enyimba Economic City as a viable project capable of providing 700,000 job opportunities for Abians said his administration will continue to do its best to promote the project.
According to the governor, plans are underway to ensure the total handover of the Hospital Primary school to the church management.
He thanked the leadership of the Anglican Church for their words of encouragement assuring that he will not let the people of the state down but will remain focused in his assignment in uplifting the fortunes of the State.
Earlier,the Bishop Anglican Diocese of Aba, Rt. Rev Christian Ugwuzo while noting that they came to congratulate the governor on his re-election to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years,described the governor’s reelection as the will of God and confidence reposed in him by the people.
He applauded the governor for his infrastructural development across the state,relative peace and security enjoyed in the state as well as ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration and urged him to continue in his laudable achievements.
Bishop Ugwuzo encouraged the governor to do more in terms of infrastructure,clearing of backlog of salaries in addition to the handing over of the Hospital Primary school owned by the Anglican Church to its management, thanked the Governor for finding their members fit to serve in his cabinet.
He assured the governor of the continued prayers and support for his administration by the body of Christ.
The visit featured prayers for the Governor and the state.
