Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has flagged off the construction of Ekeakpara-NNPC Depot-Owerrinta road.
The road which crisscrosses the two local governments of Osisioma Ngwa and Isiala Ngwa South bears great economic significance as it is the gateway into the sprawling Osisioma Industrial Area as well as the only NNPC Depot in Abia State.
The Federal road also known as the Old Aba Owerri Road, carries heavy traffic occasioned by trucks laden with petroleum products going to and from the NNPC Depot at Osisioma and passes through the popular Ekeakpara Market and several communities where heavy agricultural activities take place.
Speaking while flagging off the road project , Governor Ikpeazu assured that nothing will stall the job until it is completed adding that the road has been contracted to a Chinese construction company because of its strategic nature.
The governor noted that the road is designed to create alternative route to Owerri and adjourning communities.
According to him, the road is dear to his administration and the entire State as it is the gateway into the sprawling Osisioma industrial area and the economic hub of the state.
He directed the Authorities of Osisiomangwa and Isialangwa South LGAS to provide the needed ambience and security to the contractor to enable them complete the project on schedule.
Governor Ikpeazu later visited the new headquarters of the Police zone 9 command in umuahia which his administration is constructing.
