Abia State Governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu,has assured the new Assistant Inspector General(AIG) in charge of Zone (9),AIG Baba Tijani,of the cooperation and support of Government and people of Abia State,to enable the police succeed in providing adequate security in the state and beyond.
Dr. Ikpeazu who gave the assurance while welcoming the AIG Zone (9),AIG Baba Tijani at Government House,Umuahia,expressed delight that the state has so far enjoyed relative peace and is adjudged one of the safest states in the country,as a result of activities of the AIG Zone (9), State Police Command and other security agencies in the state.
The Governor,represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu,appreciated the new Police Boss for what he and his men have been doing in overseeing activities in the state,especially during the last general elections where the state recorded zero % in terms of violence and insecurity and expressed optimisim that with him at the helm of affairs in the state,insecurity and other criminal activities in the state will be drastically reduced.
He assured that government will continue to partner with the police and other security outfits in the state by providing them with all the necessary security gadgets that will enable them excel in their job.
Earlier in his speech,the new AIG Zone (9),AIG Baba Tijani,disclosed that having been posted to the zone,uhhe is currently studying and analysing critically the security situation in the state,especially in Aba,with a view on how best to eradicate to the barest minimum,security challenges in the state.
AIG Tijani used the opportunity to congratulate the governor on his landslide victory in the last governorship election, and thanked him for the enormous support the state have been giving to Zone(9) and State Command,while he solicited for more assistance and cooperation in the area of equipment and logistics,as it will help facilitate their operation in the state.
