Gov. Umahi Loses Commissioner, Declares Public Holiday

Commissioner for Infrastructure and Concession in Ebonyi State, Engr Fidelis Nwaeze has lost his life in a ghastly motor accident.

Reports sayt Mr Nweze was involved in a ghastly motor accident at the Obinagu axis of Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.

According to the Governor, the Commissioner was being conveyed to Enugu by his driver when his hilux rammed into a stationed articulated vehicle packed on the Highway.

Umahi noted that he was rushed to National Hospital Abuja where he had a surgery in his intestine and was eventually pronounced dead.

W statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Francis Nwaze, says Umahi has declared Wednesday, June 23, 2021, as a Public Holiday in Honour of the departed former member of the State Executive Council.

According to the statement, the Governor has directed that all offices and markets should be closed while all flags are to fly at half mast on Wednesday, June 23rd 2021 across the State.

Umahi he said has also directed all Government officials to proceed on fasting to seek the face of God in the Affairs of the State, while CAN is charged to organize Prayers to break the fast by 4pm at Christian Ecumenical Centre every day, starting from Wednesday, June 23 to Saturday, June 26, 2021.

While enjoining all Government officials to participate in all the activities, the Governor prays for peaceful repose of the souls of the fallen former Exco members.
