Governor Otu of Cross River State has strictly ordered those occupying dual offices in the State, including politicians, to vacate their former seats to avoid losing both seats.
The directive was made known to the public through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Onah, in a circular notice.
The directive also advised that those affected, including Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers, Chairmen of Commissions and Boards, Permanent Secretaries, as well as Chairmen of Local Government Councils, use the provided windows to vacate the seats they still occupy in the Local Government Areas and other places.
According to the circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, the State has observed that some appointees in the State still retain their former jobs after being elected into the newly inaugurated Local Government Councils, which does not augur well with the State.
The circular also requires that resignation from such double appointments should take place immediately to avoid facing prosecution or removal from office.
