Gov Otti Signs Startup Bill Into Law, Targets Tech-Driven Growth In Abia

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has assented to the Startup Bill recently passed by the State House of Assembly, giving it a legal framework as the Abia State Startup Law 2025.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday, while briefing Journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Otti.

Price Kanu said the law was designed to domesticate and implement the Nigerian Startup Act 2022 in Abia State.

He explained that the new legislation provides a structured framework to foster innovation, support tech-enabled startups, nurture digital talents and position Abia as a leading technology and innovation hub in Nigeria.

According to the commissioner, the law applies to companies with major operations in the State, as well as startups duly recognised and labelled under the national Act.
