Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, is set to formally welcome the former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Ralph Egbu, alongside hundreds of his supporters and other political heavyweights from Ukwa West, into the Labour Party.
The reception ceremony is scheduled for Friday at Obehe Central School, Ukwa West Local Government Area, beginning at 11:00am.
Speaking on preparations for the event, Chief Egbu expressed delight at his decision to align with Governor Otti and the Labour Party.
“I am happy to join Governor Alex Otti in the Labour Party. My decision is based on the numerous achievements and people-oriented projects of the Governor spread across the state, including Ukwa West LGA”, he said.
Chief Egbu, a celebrated journalist and former editor of leading Nigerian newspapers, described Otti’s performance in office as outstanding.
“His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, has within two years in office demonstrated uncommon capacity to deliver in virtually all sectors of the economy”, he noted.
Egbu, who also served as Commissioner for Information on two occasions, and was Chief Press Secretary to both military and civilian Governors in Abia State, added that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in supporting the Otti led administration.
