Gov Otti Set To Flag off 19.1 Km Itungwa-Omoba-Amaise-Amairi-Mgboko-Ahiaba Road

Abia State Government has disclosed that it would on 2nd October 2024, flag off the construction of the 19.1 kilometer Itungwa-Omoba-Amaise-Amairi Mgboko-Ahiaba-Obinkwo-Elechi road.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this while briefing Newsmen on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

He noted that the road which cuts across Isialangwa South and Obingwa LGAS, would be constructed under the pilot project of the Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP).

 

“This is a road that would benefit alot of communities along the line. This is a jinx broken over the RAMP project in Abia State after series of challenges which has hampered it’s programme in the past.

“The RAMP project didn’t start today but it never really got off the drawing board with the previous administrations”, Prince Kanu emphasized.

He revealed that Governor Otti in a bid to encourage Abia athletes will play host to the Abia Para-Olympic contingents that featured in the recently concluded Olympic games, held in France where the athletes made the state proud.

“Of particular note is Miss Onyinyechi Mark who won a gold metal in the 61kg category, that’s the first by an Abian in that category. Also to be fettered along with her is Miss Esther Nwogu who also won a silver in the 41kg class.

“These daughters of Abia who have made all of us proud would be received by the Governor and members of the State Executive Council”, he said.

Prince Kanu equally announced that Abia came overall best in the recently released 2024 NECO examination, adding that the continued best performance of Abia pupils and Students in national and international examinations are eloquent testimonies of the ongoing reforms in the education sector of the state.

 

“We believe that this trend would even get better in the years ahead as the reform in the sector progresses”, Prince Kanu concluded.
