Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has expressed his administration’s interest to partner with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to drive economic development in the State especially in the areas of Agriculture, Trade, and Manufacturing.
Speaking on Tuesday while receiving the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Bui Quoc Hung, at his Nvosi hometown, Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to economic transformation.
The Governor directed the Commissioner for Industry to collaborate with the Vietnamese delegation, as they tour the State to assess investment prospects.
“This will be a good time to partner. I see a whole lot of opportunities for us to partner and we’ll be very pleased that you’ll also introduce the private sector in your country that is ready to take the risk; moving from Vietnam to this place.
“We will be very pleased to work with you to move our relationship in trade, commerce, manufacturing and agriculture to very high levels. We want to thank you for the choice of Abia”, Governor Otti said.
The Governor who noted that his administration is focused in what it intends to achieve, noted that industrial partnerships with the State by previous administrations did not yield sustainable results.
He however expressed optimism that a collaboration with Vietnam could revive ailing industries in the State.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Mr Bui Quoc Hung highlighted the vast economic opportunities in the state, including Agriculture, Textiles, Crude, Oil and Gas and expressed interest in strengthening trade relations with Abia State, particularly in Agriculture, Oil and Gas gas sector among others.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to fostering a strong bilateral relationship with Abia State to enhance import and export activities and create mutual benefits for both countries.
He commended Governor Otti’s leadership and applauded his efforts in improving the economic standards of the people.
