Abia state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has inaugurated the newly completed Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) Building; a project initiated by Former Governor Theodore Orji’s administration.
The building which was abandoned for eight years, was recently completed by the present administration within six months.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony at the Ogurube Layout Umuahia, Governor Otti commended the vision of the initiators of the project despite their inability to compete it.
The Governor who emphasized that government is a continuous process, said his administration is committed to completing beneficial projects started by previous administrations.
“When the Commissioner came to me and explained everything, I did not have any problem at all.
“We disbursed fund and completed it and I’m happy the we completed the project and today we are going to commission it for use by the people whom the building is made for.
“What is important is that government is a continuum,.
“If we see a good thing that our predecessors were doing but couldn’t finish it , we take it up and finish it. It is for the benefit of our people“, Otti stated.
The Governor thanked God that the project was completed after 12 years of it’s commencement and lauded the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Prince Uzo Nwachukwu for seeing to the completion of the building.
The Governor who also directed the Commissioner to ensure that the external works are completed, said that the road leading to the complex should be properly done for easy access to the building.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu highlighted that the project had been neglected for years, with many materials stolen and funds meant for it’s completion allegedly embezzled.
He applauded the Otti administration’s swift completion of the project, attributing its realization to the Governor’s approval of necessary funds.
In his remarks, the Chairman of ALGON and Mayor of Isialangwa South LGA, lauded Governor Otti for completing the project, which he described as crucial for the state’s local governments.
The Chairman Abia State Council of traditional Rulers,Eze Linus Mba appreciated Governor Otti for his achievements over the past year as well as his dedication to the welfare of the traditional rulers in the state.
