Gov Otti Boosts Skills Development As U.S. Automotive Experts Arrive Abia For Youth Training

 

A United States Automotive Technical Academy Team has arrived in Abia State to formalize a strategic partnership with the Abia State Government aimed at training Youths across the 17 LGAs in modern automotive repair technologies.

 

The initiative, driven by the Abia State Diaspora Commission with support from Governor Alex Otti, is designed to equip Abia youths with cutting-edge expertise in modern vehicle diagnostics, electric and hybrid technologies, mechatronics and advanced repair systems widely used in developed economies.

 

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Abia State Diaspora Commission, Rev. Dr Annie Onu, who received the delegation, in her office at Government House, Wednesday, hailed the partnership as a turning point in the State’s Human Capital Development efforts.

Rev Dr. Onu noted that the programme aligns perfectly with Governor Otti’s vision to empower the youths, attract global expertise and reposition Abia as a hub for technical innovation and excellence.

 

This partnership stands as a testament to Governor Otti’s dedication to forging international collaborations that bring real, impactful benefits to Abia’s growing youth population.

 

It is a transformational opportunity for our young people. It would strengthen our workforce and create new career pathways for Abia youths”, she said.

The Abia Diaspora Commission Boss said that the training will combine theory and hands-on practical sessions delivered by internationally certified experts.

 

She emphasized that the programme is structured “to ensure inclusiveness, with beneficiaries drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of the State.

 

The program will feature both theoretical and practical modules delivered by experts with years of experience in the global automotive industry.

 

The arrival of the team signals a new chapter in Abia’s commitment to human capital development, job creation and the modernization of the automotive sector; an initiative that promises to redefine technical capacity and improve livelihoods for thousands of young people in the State.

 

We are intentional about giving Abia youths the tools to succeed in a rapidly changing world. The automotive industry is evolving at high speed and this programme will ensure that our young technicians are not left behind”, Rev Dr Onu stated.

 

Also speaking, leader of the the visiting International Automotive Technical Academy team, Col. Chukwuemeka Golden Olunkwa, noted that their mission is to transfer globally competitive automotive skills to Abia’s emerging workforce.

 

According to Olunkwa, the project will expose participants to “world-class automotive technological training that empowers them to innovate, solve modern vehicle challenges and compete favourably in the global auto industry”.
