Gov Otti Backs Igbo Unity, Inclusive National Agenda

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has restated his administration’s commitment to promoting the unity and dignity of the Igbo people while championing a more inclusive national agenda.

 

Governor Otti made the remarks at his country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area, when he received a delegation of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, led by its Chairman, Professor Elochukwu Amuchiazi.

 

The Governor emphasised that his administration had remained focused over the past two years on transforming the narrative of governance in Abia and restoring the pride of its people.

 

We have been busy recovering our land and restoring the dignity of our people”, Governor Otti declared.

He noted that beyond infrastructure and social investments, his administration has prioritised security as a critical pillar for sustainable development.

 

Govenor Otti who highlighted his administrations strides in security, pointed out that the launch of the Abia State Security Trust Fund Luncheon on Thursday, 10th July 2025, aimed at raising substantial funds to tackle crime and ensure a safer environment for all residents.

The Governor disclosed that significant progress had already been recorded in curbing crime across the state, adding that job creation and an enabling business environment remained at the core of his administration’s strategy to build a crime-free society.

 

He also stressed the importance of accountability and a renewed civic awareness, saying: “Though everyone claims to be a politician, the people are now wise in asking questions on what those seeking power have to offer”.

The Governor while commended the Igbo Leaders of Thought for their steadfastness in advancing the Igbo cause, urged the group to continue to deploy their wealth of experience in service of the nation and the Igbo people.

 


Speaking earlier, Professor Elochukwu Amuchiazi explained that the delegation’s visit aimed to promote a Nigeria where the Igbo could thrive and fully realise their aspirations.

 

He lauded the Governor’s people-centred leadership and remarkable achievements in the state and called for collaboration among all stakeholders to protect Igbo interests and advance the collective prosperity of the South-East region.

In his remarks, Professor Obasi Igwe, a member of the delegation, applauded Governor Otto for the ongoing development of the Abia Airport City project.

He called for the support of the Federal Government to dredge the Imo River to the coast through Opobo, a seaport originally founded by the Igbo, which he said would connect the South-East directly to the Atlantic Ocean and unlock vast economic opportunities.
