The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has been advised to be conscious of the negative tendencies of sycophants and concentrate on his avowed primary responsibility of good governance for the benefit of the majority of Abia State.
The President General of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union, Ohuhu Umuahia, Sir Uzomba Ekwuribe, made this clarion call while interacting with newsmen in his Ohuhu country home during the Governor’s thanksgiving Service held in Umuahia recently
He advised Governor Otti’s aids to concentrate on achieving results instead of dwelling on hear say and baseless rumours.
Sir. Ekwuribe, who was a former Abia State Secretary General of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), urged Governor Otti, and his appointees to consider implementing the template of Mr. Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP) on good Governance.
According to him, “the Governor has started well through a number of positive steps like engagement of Julius Berger to construct durable and quality roads in the State, aggressive evacuation of refuse and promised to revamp the civil service but it may be too early to award marks till his first hundred days in office”.
However, Sir. Uzomba, stated that it is unfortunate to recall that most bill-boards praising the current Governor now were also there during the tenures of the former Governors and so urged the Governor to test every pieces of advice before accepting it hook, line and sinker because at the end of his first tenure, he would be judged by his positive impacts and achievements and not by the millions of bill boards and flyers praising him.
