Gov Ikpeazu signs 2020 Budget into law.

The Abia State 2020 Appropriation bill of One Hundred and Thirty Seven Billion, Four Hundred and Nineteen Million,Six Hundred and Seventeen Thousand,One Hundred and Sixteen Naira has been signed into law by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

The appropriation law which was earlier today passed into law by the State House of Assembly is to take effect from January 2020.

Recall that the Governor had on 18th Nov 2019 presented to the House of Assembly a budget of One Hundred and Thirty six billion six hundred and Seventeen Million.

Governor Ikpeazu while assenting to the law at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House Umuahia, promised that everything possible will be done to implement the law to the latter.

He saluted the hardwork and industry deployed by the state House of Assembly in ensuring early passage and signing of the bill,saying that this was the first time the budget will be signed early since the inception of his administration.

He noted that the budget is designed to help accelerate the state’s development economically and touch the lives of rural communities in the various local governments.

Governor Ikpeazu called for all hands to be on deck in implementing the Budget and urged ministries, Parastatals and Agencies to emulate the hardwork and industry exhibited by the state House of assembly in terms of accelerating speedy implementation of the budget to enable timeous execution and delivery of quality projects to Abians who he said are yearning for development.

He assured that his administration will do it’s best in ensuring it works within the frame of the budget to give the people dividends of democracy.

Earlier while presenting the appropriation bill to the Governor for signing,the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Chinedum Orji in company of the some principal officers of the House of Assembly said, it became imperative for the House of Assembly to ensure early passage of the appropriation law before the end of the year,based on the governor’s renewed mandate and desire to move the state forward.

The Speaker while assuring continous support from the legislature to enable the Governor move the state forward,expressed hope that 70% of the 2020 appropriation bill will be followed to the latter and commended the Governor for his efforts at driving sustainable development in the state.
