Gov. Ikpeazu Rewards Three Abia Teachers With Car Gift For Exemplary Behaviour, Dedication To Duty

 

Three Public Teachers under the employ of Abia State Government were on Tuesday presented with cars for exemplary behaviour and dedication to duties.

The recipients of the Governor’s magnanimity which include, Mr Agatha Ogbonnaya, a teacher of Umunneato Nomadic School, Okoko Item in Bende Local Government Area, Mr Bright Wogu of Central School Obohia in Ukwa East LGA and Mr Friday Madu of Obinolu Secondary Technical School Isuochi in Umunneochi LGA, were presented with two Toyota Camry car and a Toyota Corolla car.

Governor Ikpeazu who presented the cars to the recipients through his Chief of Staff, Chief Okey Ahaiwe,at Government House, Umuahia, said teachers perform important role in the achievement of sustainable educational system.

Governor Ikpeazu who said that the presentation of car gifts to teachers was one of Abia State government’s strategies to boost productivity in the education sector, commended the teachers for exhibiting exemplary behaviours.

He noted that the gift would help to boost their morale and encourage them to do more for their pupils and students.

Governor Ikpeazu who maintained that education remains top priority for the government,said it was one of the government’s five pillars of development agenda used in facilitating socioeconomic growth in the state.

 

Ikpeazu assured that the state government would continue to evolve programmes and policies that would transform the education sector through such motivation and other welfare packages for the teachers.

In a remark, Chief Chijioke Mark, the Commissioner for Post-Basic Education, commended the state government for evolving progressive programs, policies and education initiatives which has placed the state on a pedestal as a high flyer in education in the southeast geopolitical zone and nation at large.

“We made the best result in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations in the entire federation and were awarded a cash award of N2.5million for the feat,” he added.

Also,the State Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT), Chief Dimanochie Uwabunkeonye,said that the car gifts indicated that the state government rewards hardwork.

 

Uwabunkeonye said :“If you work hard with patient and dedication, the outcome is a better result and a reward for your services”.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr Agatha Ogbonnaya, a teacher of Umunneato Nomadic School, Okoko Item in Bende Local Government Area(LGA), thanked the state government for the kind gesture.

 

He prayed God to bless the state government for the honour,adding that the reward would serve as a source of encouragement to the teachers.

Present at the brief event were the Deputy National President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Mr Kizzito Kalu, the State Secretary of NUT, Comrade (Mrs) Nnenna Okonkwo and Permanent Secretary among other government functionaries.
