Gov Ikpeazu Reiterates Commitment To Youth Devt In Abia, Receives Award

The Abia state Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph.D) has reiterated its government’s commitment towards mainstreaming issues bordering youth development in the state.

Gov. Ikpeazu who stated this during Abia Youth Summit 2022 in Umuahia, Abia state, described youths as partners in government.

Represented the Abia state commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the governor disclosed that more youths would benefit from the monthly start-up of Abia state government to enhance their economic status.

 

He further said that youthful energies in Abia are positively channeled with many youths on local and foreign scholarships.

This, he attributed to the peace and political stability in the state compared with other states in Nigeria.

In his lecture, entitted; “The Role of youths infostering good governance”, the MD/CEO, Nextzon Business Services Limited, Sir Macauley Chidinma Atasie charged youths to choose people with competence to run their affairs or suffer perpetually.

The strategy consultant who maintained that inconsistent and bad decisions have brought the people into bad governance while consistent good decision would create a better future and good governance for the society.

The strategic business leader lamented that Nigerian youths are grossly unprepared to compete in the global communities due to several inadequacies.

He listed them to include: unemployment, poor healthcare, and restriction to quality education among others.

The urged youths to use their youthful energies to serve Nigeria, insisting that the future of Nigeria and Africa belongs to the youths.

Contributing, a Public Relations Consultant, Mrs. Onyeyirichi Okere had decried the untold poverty bedeviling the society, urging youths to channel their energies positively and use social media to hold government of the day accountable.

Okere who noted that good governance is possible in Nigeria, charged youths to resist bad leaders in governance, maintaining that it is the only way to enthrone good governance.

Earlier in his opening remark the National president, Abia youth Assembly (AYA), Hon. Ebere Davidson called on youths to brace up and take responsibility of making the country work again.

Ebere disclosed that youths contribute over 40 per cent to bad governance through their actions and inactions.

In his word’s ;”we must brace up and ensure our nation work again with Abia state taking the lead as number one state in Nigeria”.

Highpoints of the event were the giving of awards to Gov Okezie Ikpeazu, Sir Mac Chidinma Atasie, Hanson Chukwudi Eke, Mr. Ogbonnaya David, Mrs. Ngozi Ogbonna-Erondu, Mr. Onyekachi Bishop Ogo, Engr. Humphrey Chukwudi Benson among other prominent people.
