Gov Ikpeazu Inagurates OVI Campaign Coordinators In Ukwa-East, Reveals His Mission To Senate

Abia State Governor and the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for Abia South Senatorial District, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has inaugurated His Campaign Coordinators In Ukwa-East Local Government Area (LGA), Abia state.

Inaugurating the OVI Units Coordinators, the Governor also revealed his reasons for contesting for a seat at the red chambers was to be closer to his people and attract attention of the federal government to the people of Abia South, and the state at large.

He expressed dismay that he has not enjoyed the support of the federal government, which would have helped his developmental strides for the state.

He said: “As Governor, I have not done everything and have not satisfied every interest. I want your support to go to the senate to represent you. I will attract attention to my people and state government when I get to the senate.

“Part of what I suffered as governor is that I don’t have people helping me to attract attention of federal government to the state.
The only offer that I got from FG apart from the statutory allocations was N5billion to build a grazing reserve in the state, which I rejected”.

He urged them to support the candidate of the PDP, Prof Uche Ikonne to be Governor.

“I have the entire Ukwa people in mind when I threw my support for Prof. Uche Ikonne, because if an Ngwa man from Abia Central didn’t become governor, it will be difficult for an Ukwa man to be governor.

“When power comes back to Abia south, the people of Ukwa can agitate for it. Also, if an Ukwa man is not governor, it will be difficult for an Osisioma to be governor.

“We need to support Ngwa in Abia central now so that when power returns to Abia south, it naturally comes to Ukwa”, he said.

Contributing, the State Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere, said that Ukwa-East have enjoyed goodwill from the Abia governor with their prominent sons and daughters holding critical positions in the state, hence, the need to vote PDP come 2023.

Meanwhile, the Director General, PDP Ukwa-East LGA Campaign Council, Hon. Paul Taribo who thanked Gov. Ikpeazu yielding to their call to represent Abia South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, noted that Ukwa people will vote massively for him come 2023.

Interacting with newsmen, the OVI Coordinator, Ukwa-East LGA, Hon. Ossy Nwamuo who disclosed that Ukwa-East LGA has a voting strength of about 40,000 with over 85 polling units, said that they would massively vote for Gov. Ikpeazu for Senate and other PDP candidates come 2023.

He maintained that Dr. Ikpeazu is the most qualified among other contestants who are vying for Abia South Senatorial seat, adding that the people will smile with Ikpeazu representing them.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barr. Tony Nwamuo, applauded Gov. Ikpeazu’s strides in the critical sectors of the government, adding that it will speak boldly for party come 2023.

He revealed that Gov. Ikpeazu’s administration would give a facelift to Azumini blue river and other tourist sites in the state in the coming days, and urged Ukwa people and Abians to vote massively for Gov. Ikpeazu for Senate and other PDP candidates in the 2023 general polls.

The Executive Chairman, Ukwa-East LGA, Hon. Chuks Wabara has commended the Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for his several interventions in the critical areas of development in Ukwa-East.

In his words: “There is electricity today in Ukwa-East and we are very grateful to Gov. Ikpeazu especially for his huge financial assistance towards the restoration this project after several failed attempts to reconnect to the national grid”.

In their separate remarks, the PDP flagbearers for Ukwa Federal Constituency, and Ukwa-East State Constituency, Sir Chris Nkwonta and Hon. Lewis Obianyi respectively thanked Gov. Ikpeazu his financial assistance towards the restoration of electricity in Ukwa-East, expressing faith that PDP would win 2023 elections at all levels overwhelmingly.

In his speech, the Ukwa-East LG PDP chairman, Chief Okechi Nwaohu stated that Ukwa-East is the traditional home of the party with the state party chairman and the Board of Trustee Chairman (BOT) of PDP from the Local Government, adding that they will vote massively for PDP come 2023.

Contributing also, the woman leader, OVI for Senate, and the former Deputy Chairman of Ukwa-East LGA, Lady C.C. Okere has expressed the readiness of women of the LGA to vote massively for Gov. Ikpeazu.

She added that the women of Ukwa-East would reward Dr. Ikpeazu with their votes for giving them pridal roles in his administration.
