Gov Ikpeazu distributes mobility carts to physically challenged persons in Abia.

As part of his administration’s way of showing care to the less privileged individuals in the society,Abia State Governor  Okezie Ikpeazu has distributed 40 Mobility Carts to the physically challenged members of the society under the Abia State Free Medical Mission 2020 for Abia Central Senatorial Zone.

 

Other senatorial zones of the state will equally benefit from the free medical mission of the state government.

 

Performing the event at Primary Health Centre Nkwoegwu, Umuahia North LGA, Governor Ikpeazu disclosed that his government is working on getting motorized machines for the physically challenged persons.

Ikpeazu said the Free Medical Mission in the three Senatorial zones of the state was embarked upon by his administration as part of efforts geared towards improving the healthcare needs of the physically challenged persons in the rural areas.

The Governor who described the physically challenged individuals as persons with special abilities, encouraged them not allow anyone look down on them because of their condition.

He said distribution of the devices is the best way to thank to God after his Supreme Court victory and to fulfill his electoral promises to the physically challenged persons,adding that the mobility Carts would help them better their lot.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Transition Committee Chairmen in the Abia Central Senatorial Zone, the TC Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Deacon Stanley Ojigbo commended Governor Ikpeazu for distributing the mobility carts to the physically challenged individuals in the zone and assured the Governor of the continuous support of the people in the six Local Government Areas of Abia Central Senatorial Zone.

In his speech, the Chairman,Abia State Committee on Medical Missions and Distribution of Mobility Carts, Dr. Mike Enyinnaya, said that the Free Medical Mission initiated by the Ikpeazu administration in 2015, is done in partnership with Med-Share, an American donor Agency in collaboration with Abia State Indigenes in the Diaspora.

 

According to him, the programme was organised to extend free medical care and to distribute mobility carts to people in the rural areas.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban and Rural Health Services Dr. Stella Kamalu, commended the governor for facilitating  the procurement of the equipments abroad and assured they will continue to assist the State advocate and procure supplies for Abians.

Expressing her feelings on behalf of other physically challenged persons, Princess Ngozi Nwaguru,thanked governor Ikpeazu for initiating and commencing the mission as well as for having the well being of physically challenged persons at heart.
