The Commissioner for Special Duties and Vulnerable Group, Hon Chisom Nwachukwu has assured the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Abia State Chapter of the present administration’s commitment towards ensuring their welfare and general well-being.
Hon. Nwachukwu, stated this in his office, at Government House Umuahia during a courtesy visit by the newly inaugurated executives of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).
He said the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu created the Ministry of Special Duties and Vulnerable Group to identify and tackle issues concerning their welfare.
The Commissioner further assured that the present administration would continue to carry them along as well as tackle challenges facing them and encouraged them to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards so as to enable them participate in the forthcoming electoral processes.
Hon Nwachukwu, while assuring the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities of government’s continuous support, promised that the Ministry would hold regular interactions with them to fashion out ways to move the association forward.
He advised them to sustain their support for the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration as the administration is committed to the welfare of all citizenry.
In his address, the Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities in Abia State, Wisdom Okechukwu, said their visit was to officially present the newly elected executives of the association to him and identify ways to support vulnerable groups in the State.
He added that they came to seek the Commissioner’s support on the need for quick passage of Abia Disability Bill which is currently on the floor of Abia State House of Assembly and to assist them facilitate the employment and scholarship of persons with disabilities in Abia State.
While congratulating Chief Chisom Nwachukwu on his appointment as the Commissioner for Special Duties and Vulnerable Group, the association pledged their unalloyed support to the State and expressed hope that they would be carried along in the course of his governance.
In her remarks, Former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters, Princess Ngozi Nwaguru thanked the Commissioner for granting them audience and pledged their continuous support for the present administration.
