Gov Ikpeazu commissions rice milling centres in Abia to boost rice production.

 In an effort to boost rice production in Abia state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu,Saturday, commissioned the Uzuakoli Rice Mill in Bende Local Government Area of the state.
Also commissioned by the Governor, was the Acha Rice Processing Mill,Isuikwuato.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Governor who said he believes in multiplicity of various mills at different centres across the state to enable farmers access them easily and assist their production output,further noted that it will help stem the rural urban drift phenomenon.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to producing bigger quantity of rice that would be enough for local consumption before exporting to other States of the federation.
The Governor urged the mill managers to develop warehouses in towns like Aba and Umuahia to enable people patronize them.
Earlier, the Coordinator, Abia State Accelerated Rice Project, Pastor Okechukwu Dike while appreciating the efforts of the Governor in ensuring that rice farmers in the state are encouraged to produce enough rice,noted that under the Ikpeazu administration Abia has become one of the rice producing states.
According to him,the centres boost of millers,’de-stoners’ and other instruments that would assist Rice farmers in their production output.
