Gov Ikpeazu commends church for their fervent prayers

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the church to intensify their prayers to arrest the spate of insecurity and disregard for human life across the country.

Dr. Ikpeazu who made the call during the Thanksgiving service for the second session of the sixteenth synod of the Anglican Diocese of Aba held at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Umuehilegbu , Aba said the state govt recognises the role leaders and churches in the state have been playing to sanitize the society and inculcate good morals among the citizenry.

The governor represented by his deputy, sir Ude Oko Chukwu reassured of government’s readiness to continue to collaborate with the Church to ensure they change the developmental narratives of the state and make Abia a better place for future generation.

He congratulated the Anglican Diocese of Aba on their successful synod praying God to realize the issues deliberated during the synod which will help in the propagation of the gospel and appreciated the Church for their sustained prayers which has helped in sustaining the state and nation even in the face of insecurity and economic downturn.

In his sermon, centerd on the synod theme ” The Cross of Christ ‘, the Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okoroafor who stated that the anchor of the Christian faith lies in the crucifixion on the cross and the resurrection of the Christ and regretted that most Christian only remember the cross when faced with the vicissitudes of life and called on Christians to have the fear of God in them.

Also speaking the Bishop of Aba Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Christian Ugwuzor who appreciated the governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and his Deputy , Sir Ude Oko Chukwu for always identifying with all their activities, prayed God to heal the country from the spirit of hatred, disunity, and disrespect for the sanctity of human life.
