Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has lauded the National Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, for its efforts in ensuring professionalism and standard is maintained in Estate management and land usage.
Governor Ikpeazu who stated this while receiving in audience National and State Executive members of the institution led by the National President, ESV Rowland Abonta at Government House Umuahia, noted that the contributions of Estate Surveyors in infrastructural development of any country cannot be overemphasize.
The Governor stated emphatically that his administration’s vision to build a new Enyimba economic city that would occupy about 9,200 Hectares of land was to make Aba a world class economic hub that would link the three neighbouring States with Abia, adding that the Estate Surveyors would play significant and supportive role to actualizing the dream.
He further noted that the economic strength of the city lies in commerce and small and medium scale enterprises.
The governor further said his efforts in fixing infrastructure in Aba, the economic hub was to promote locally made goods, adding that Abia now exports over two million pairs of shoe every month.
While assenting to the request of the institution to cite an Evaluation office in the State, Governor said his administration would ensure that the inauguration of land use allocation committee is set up to work inline with the Federal Government Land Use Act reform programmes.
Earlier, the National President of the Institution, ESV Rowland Abonta, had extolled the giant strides of Governor Ikpeazu in the areas of infrastructure, health and other sectors stating that his commitment towards diversifying the economy of the State through industrialization would attract foreign investors in the Abia.
Abonta urged the State government to cue into the Federal Government’s new land reform policies of systematic Land tilting under the presidential technical committee
He noted that the policies are targeted at giving Nigerians convenient access to lands in their various States.
Abonta also noted that the programme would encourage wealth creation through optimal use of land as an economic commodity.
Present during the visit were m members of the State Executive Council, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Engr. Emma Nwabuko and other person of note.
