Gov Ikpeazu Advocates For Consensus Presidential Candidate,Says Interest Of Nigeria Masses Paramount

 

 

As the build up to the 2023 General Elections heightens, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has advocated for the emergence of a Nigerian President who would serve the interest of the masses.

 

Ikpeazu also encouraged all Aspirants under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to come together and forge a common front irrespective of personal interests and present a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the forth coming elections.

 

Speaking at his Country home, Umuobiakwa Obingwa LGA, when he received a delegation of some Governors and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP) in continuation of their dialogue towards the presidential ticket of the party, Ikpeazu commended them for coming together to forge a common front.

 

The Governor noted that his hope in the emergence of a new Nigeria has been rekindled adding the alliance would form a formidable force to rescue the country beyond selfish interests.

He said; “Let the President who is ready to serve Nigeria emerge and not a President who is going to serve himself. This is the spirit and I want to recommend it to every Aspirant that we must come together.

 

 

“The survival of our country, the interest of the poor masses of this country should come first before whatever personal agenda we have and I am happy y that Nigeria has Patriots and leaders who are capable of saying Nigeria first.

 

 

“This initiative which you are leading is altruistic and it is done out of the desire to forge an alliance that can rescue this country beyond our respective selfish interest and I want to say that you have my committee and cooperation as we move on and do our little bit to ensure that all of us come together”.

Governor Ikpeazu who prayed God to reward their efforts with success as well as grant the PDP victory in 2023 said he is committed to ensuring that the party “presents a common front or at least minimize misunderstandings and altercations running up to our primaries because we have realized that only one person would be President at the same time.

 

 

Earlier, a former Senate President and PDP Presidential Aspirant Dr. Bukola Saraki said that they were already working towards coming up with a concensus presidential candidate for the party that has the capacity to address the prevailing insecurity and hardship faced by Nigerians under the present APC adminstration.

 

He said that the party is driven by determination to turn the country around and expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge victorious in the forth coming general elections.

Other aspirants present at the meeting include, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and Alhaji Muhammad Hayatu-Deen among other leaders of the PDP.
