Gov. Fubara Urges New Traditional Rulers to Prioritize Service Over Personal Gains

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged four newly recognized traditional rulers to see their appointments as calls to service rather than opportunities for personal gain.

 

Gov. Fubara gave this charge during the presentation of staff of office and certificates of recognition to the traditional rulers at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. He emphasized that the appointments come with added responsibilities to assist the government in safeguarding lives and property in their respective domains.

While congratulating them, Gov. Fubara urged the rulers to avoid creating problems in their communities, warning that his administration holds the authority to revoke recognitions if necessary. He stated, “I want you to be partners with the government and ensure that we continue to succeed.”

The governor added: “I know that you are all men of integrity. Support the cause of governance so that we can all succeed together. It is truly a privileged position, and I am confident you will use it in the best interest of your people.”

On his part, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Charles Amadi, who presented the traditional rulers, lauded Gov. Fubara for expanding the number of recognized traditional leaders in the state. He noted that the move would enhance security and safety in rural areas under the rulers’ jurisdiction.

The four traditional rulers presented with staff of office and certificates of recognition include:
– His Majesty Winston Odize, Alamina Oputibeya XII, Amanyanabo of Koniju in Okrika Local Government Area
– His Majesty Eze Noble Friday Uwoh (CSP rtd), Eze Igbu-Ehuda IV, in Ahoada East Local Government Area
– His Royal Highness Prince Ike Ehie, Eze Igbu Orlu-Ukwo, in Ahoada-East Local Government Area
– His Royal Highness Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, Amanyanabo of Torusarama-piri, in Degema Local Government Area
