Gov Emmanuel Commences Reconstruction Of War Ravaged Communities

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State,has begun phased development and reconstruction of communities ravaged by three years of militancy with the donation of nine transformers to the affected communities in Etim Ekpo Local government area.

The return of peace to the communities followed the anmesty programme put in place by the governor where over 420 repentant militants lay down their arms.

The communities that benefitted include Udianga community with two transformers, Uruk Ata 2, with two,and Ikpe Annang three while Otoro Obong and Ikot Nugwonso Communities received one transformer each.

Speaking at Oruk Nta 2, community in Etim Ekpo LGA after taking delivery of the transformer, the chairman of the council, Udeme Eduo ,expressed appreciation to the Governor for directly intervening in the needs of the communities.

He lauded the efforts of villagers for embracing peace and charged them to jealously guide against acts that could truncate the peace process.

While assuring them of many other development projects of the governor and the council, the chairman enjoined the people to safeguard the transformer against the activities of hoodlums.

“This transformer is donated to this community by the Governor, Udom Emmanuel in keeping with his determination to ensure that all communities are provided with basic necessities of life.

“This transformer would have been brought here long time ago but the fear of being vandalised, so I enjoined you to remain in peace as there cannot be any development without peace and i called on all of you to maintain and safeguard this property against the activities of the hoodlums” he said.

He stated further that modalities have been put in place to ensure the communities are connected to the national grid without delay.

The Village Council chairman, Mfon Daniel, expressed appreciation to the Governor and the Etim Ekpo LGA chairman for the donation of the transformer and promised to maintain and safeguard the property.

He also appealed to the chairman of the council to help and ensure that the Communities are connected to the national grid without delay.
