Good governance, key to Nigeria’s Peaceful coexistence- P4P

 

A group known as the Partners For Peace (P4P), in the Niger Delta, has risen from their 2020 World Peace Day celebration, to disclose that good governance is  key to the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria.

Interacting with newsmen, the Abia state Coordinator of the P4P, Hon Iyke Uchella, stated that the concept of peace is very important in the development of any nation, as no country can make meaningful achievements in a chaotic and unorganized system.

Hon Uchella disclosed that the Abia chapter of P4P, even with limited fund, decided to add colour to the 2020 World Peace Day celebration, having done some intervention programmes,geared towards rehabilitating youths that have giving in to cultsim.

He stated that this year’s theme ” Shaping Peace Together”,was apt,as it addresses the need for every individual to be committed to the course of peace,if peace must play out in the society.

Hon Uchella maintained that peace is not the absence of war, but the ability and capacity  to resolve perceived ill and grievances, respect the feeling of people, irrespective of their colour ,race or religion.

The P4P coordinator disclosed that so far, the organization in Abia has been able to carry out campaigns in Bende,Umuahia South and Isialangwa South Local Government Areas of the state, with the view of reducing the escalating spate of cult violence in the area.

He added that thirty persons who were chosen from the three selected Local Government Areas, have successfully completed their one month counseling and they have been integrated back into the society, revealing that the group would soon visit other LGAs in Abia.

Hon Uchella, however, disclosed that the association is faced with numerous challenges, ranging from funding to the risk of being harmed by cult groups, calling on the government, individuals,cooperate organizations  to join hands with P4P, so as to rid the environment of cult violence,while appreciating the efforts of their partner, PIND.

 

The state coordinator further disclosed that the group would be giving out awards to deserving Abians who supported in giving out palliative items to families and communities during the  Covid 19 lockdown, stating that their kind gesture and selfless service to humanity  greatly contributed to the peaceful coexistence of families during the period.

Speaking with Hon Uba Anyanwu,who was honoured with the Golden Award Peace Ambassador, expressed joy over the honour done him.

According to him,peace is not spoken but practiced, stating that his nomination for the award speaks volume that he is a peace loving fellow.

 

As a way of restoring peace to the Northern part of the country, Anyanwu advised Federal Government to identify the real cause of insurgency in the Area, so that they could move for peace in the area.

Also, the Traditional ruler of Umoba Autonomous Community in Isialangwa South LGA, Eze Godwin Nwankpa who was honoured with the Peace Ambassador, said Peace is very important to development, as no community or society could make meaningful progress without peace, thanking the organizers for the honour done him, promising to continue to move the course of peace in his domain.

Another Awardee,Barr Ogala Osoka Jnr, who was represented by Elder Abel Eke,said the concept of peace is what nobody or government should toy with, urging everyone to be a pursuer of peace, while thanking the organizers of the 2020 World Peace Day for the honour done to him.
