Golfers Association of Nigeria to honour Akwa Ibom governor

The Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria (PGAN) said it has concluded plan to honour the Akwa Ibom state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel with an award of excellence during its Closing Ceremony to mark the PGA 50th anniversary.

The award ceremony according to a press release by the Local Organising Committee set up by the Captain of Ibom Golf & Country Club, Rt. Hon. Usenobong Akpabio would take place on Sunday, August 25 at Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort.

According to the statement, Activities marking the PGA’s event commenced on Monday, August 19, 2019 with Golf Clinic for children at Ibom Golf Course.

From Tuesday, August 20, to Friday, August 23, 2019, 6:00 a.m. daily, was anniversary tournament for the Pros, which will climax on Friday, August 23, 2019, with cocktail by 6:00 p.m. at the Club House.

The release noted that; “On Saturday, August 24, 2019, will be the Amateur Individual Tournament (Sponsors, Golf Captains & Lady Captains), from 6:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.

“on Sunday, August 25, 2019, will be the Amateur Tournament (Team Play) from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.”

It added that “The awards presentation and closing ceremony are billed for 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at the Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort.”

The press release disclosed that the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki; the Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong, and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Henry Seriake Dickson are among golfers that will play on Saturday, August 24, 2019, and Sunday, August 25, 2019.

The release also urged golfers in Akwa Ibom State and beyond, and members of the public to be part of these events as scheduled.
