Golden Guinea Breweries and Modern Ceramics Umuahia are expected to commence production before the end of the year as all necessary machines are been put in place.
The General Manager, Abia State Metallurgical Complex, Engr. Henry Nwaejike, disclosed this during the 2019 budget defence of the Ministry of Industry and Parastatal at the on going Miniseries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) 2019 budget defence in Umuahia.
Nwaejike said that they are collaborating with Nigeria Breweries in fabricating and repairing machines for the actualization of his purpose.
Henry Nwaejike restated the commitment and mission to make Abia Metallurgical Complex viable and disclosed that the complex have been turned into development and skills acquisition centre for development of entrepreneurs and skilled workers.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary/Permanent Secretary, Abia State Planning Commission, Ugoeze Adanma Iheuwa describe the Ministry of Industry as a catalyst in achieving the Industrialization of the State.
Ugoeze Iheuwa said that the Ministry and the complex have great roles to play in enhancing industrialization of employment and revenue generation for the state. She challenged them to seek for International Investors that would develop the Industrial Clusters in the state and full realization of the Metallurgical Complex because of the role the two will play in accelerating the economic growth of the state.
The Secretary who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Commission also stated the need for an Industry lab where finished products would be tested before distribution that they would help facilitate in the cluster zone as well as increase the revenue generation of the state.
Responding,Mr. Onyebuchi Christian Nwankpa, while defending the policy budget thrust of the Ministry and Abia State Metallurgical Complex said that Metallurgical Complex as one of the Parastatal that was created to provide employment grants and skill acquisition centre among others would ensure that both Golden Guinea Breweries and the Modern Ceramics would bounce back before December this year.
He also disclose that he would ensure the production of various kinds of products, manufacturing of motor spar parts,agricultural equipment tools,industrial tools among others.
Mr. Nwankpa commended the state government for providing an enabling environment for skills acquisition and industrial training centre for smooth learning, and disclosed that very soon they would start training for applicant and increase the state revenue base.
