Glory House Wins KHMS Umuahia 10th Annual Inter-House Sports

Glory House has won the 10th edition of Kingdom Heritage Model School, held at Umuahia township stadium, Abia state.

Glory House won the highest number of medals, closely followed by Honour House that came second, while Blessing and Power houses came third and fourth respectively.

In the march pass competition, Power House won the first position, followed by Honour House while Blessing House and Glory House came third and fourth respectively.

Power House came first in the march pass during the event.

Among other events watched by parents, pupils and invited guests at the competition were: 200m, 100m race, 75m race, 50m race, relay race, filling the bottle with foam/cup, filling the basket, sack race and skipping race, thread and needle race, bursting the balloon, finding the missing coin among others.

In his remark, the State Pastor, Living Faith Church, Abia state, Pastor Chris Osiberu underscored the importance of exercise to learners, adding that it gives them balance and stability.

Blessing House that came 3rd in the march pass competition at the event.

In his words: “We don’t only empower our children with knowledge in KHMS but we also expose them to exercise to make them strong. Even the Scriptures emphasized that bodily exercise profits a little in 1 Timothy 4 vs 8”.

Glory House that came 4th in the march pass competition at the event.

The Clergy who said it was the essence of the Inter-House Sports, thanked parents and guardians for keeping faith with the school.

Honour House

Meanwhile, the Head Teacher, KHMS Umuahia Abia State, Constance Uche Umekwe who thanked parents for their efforts towards the development of their wards, described extra-curricular activities as an indispensable part of every learners’ life.

Power House

She maintained that a sound mind lies in a sound body, hence, the need for the 10th annual Inter-House Sports.

In her words: “I want all our children to be good at both studies and sports. I am extremely proud of what they have achieved in the sports field”.

Blessing House

Umekwe who further underscored the importance of balancing sports with academics, assured parents that the sporting activities would help their children to stay healthy and fit.


Contributing, the Chairman, Parents Teachers Forum (PTF), KHMS Umuahia, Dr. Uchenna Martins Kalu, thanked all the staff for commiting their time and talent to prepare the learners for the competition.

Dr. Kalu also commended the learners for being creative and their crave for sports, adding that these have contributed to raising the overall standard of the school’s sports competition and building stamina, endurance, perseverance, among others in their children.

He emphasized that Inter-House Sports inspires determination and are vital to children’s development.

Presenting the trophy to Glory House which emerged as the overall winner of the 10th annual Inter-House Sports, the State Pastor, Living Faith Church, Pst. Osiberu, congratulated them for showing resilience, adding that everybody who participated in the event won in one way or the other.
