The Management of Abia State Government House, Umuahia has embarked on a one day internal Staff Auditing Exercise.
The Exercise which is aimed at ascertaining actual staff strength is also aimed at curbing ghost worker syndrome among civil servants.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Umuahia, Elder Okechukwu Aguwa said it is the first time management would embark on staff Auditing adding that the excercise would continue so as to ascertain those who are actual Staff of Government House as well as those who abscond from duties.
While noting that it is wrong for civil servants to receive salaries without working for it,the Permanent Secretary said those who abscond from duty would be flushed out from the service.
Also, speaking, the Acting Director of Administration, Government House Umuahia, Mr. Chuka Agomuo disclosed that the excercise would enable the management update its norminal roll for optimal productivity adding that the excercise would capture all civil servants in the establishment.
Mr. Agomuo advised staff of Government House to take the excercise seriously.
The Staff Auditing involves presentation of Offer of Appointment, Notification of Appointment, Acceptance of Offer of Appointment, Record of Service, Certificates of Academic qualifications, Birth Certificate, Certificate of Local Government of origin and passport photograph.
