Retired General Christopher Musa, the newly appointed Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, on Friday formally took over leadership of the Ministry of Defence at the Ship House headquarters in Abuja.
Gen. Musa, who was appointed last, Tuesday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru, received Senate confirmation last ,Thursday. His elevation has drawn commendation from stakeholders across security and governance sectors, many citing his track record of firm, strategic and innovative leadership as CDS between 2023 and 2025.
Arriving the ministry at about 11:10 a.m., the minister inspected the quarter guard in keeping with military tradition before exchanging pleasantries with the service chiefs and senior officials on ground.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gen. Musa immediately proceeded into a closed-door meeting with the service chiefs and directors of the ministry, marking the start of what many expect to be a decisive phase in the country’s defence administration.
