Fubara Inspects Port Harcourt Ring Road, Reaffirms October 2026 Deadline

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday inspected ongoing work on the 50.15-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing the landmark project by October 2026.

The governor, accompanied by the Deputy Regional Manager (South-South/South-East) of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Mr. Rimon Marisho, toured critical sections of the road spanning six local government areas of the state.

The inspection began at the Eleme axis, particularly the Refinery Junction, and continued through Oyigbo and Obio/Akpor, terminating at the river-crossing bridge linking the Agip/RSU axis of Port Harcourt to Mgbuodohia community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Addressing journalists at the bridge site, Fubara said the tour was to assess the level of work done as the project approaches the end of its initial 36-month completion timeline. He noted that substantial progress has been recorded across various sections.

“The project was initially planned to last for about 36 months, and we are now approaching that period. It became necessary to physically assess the level of progress made so far. From what we have seen today, a lot has been achieved,” the governor said.

He added that the contractors have assured the state government of delivery by October 2026, stressing that sustained funding and the necessary administrative support would be crucial to meeting the deadline.

Fubara further disclosed that Julius Berger Nigeria Plc confirmed that with continued financial and institutional backing, the Ring Road project would be completed as scheduled.

Describing the Ring Road as a priority project of his administration, the governor expressed confidence that the October 2026 target would be achieved.
