The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has charged Fresh Matriculating Students of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu to portray character distinguished by honour, imbibe discipline, and conduct themselves as teachers.
Speaking during the 13th matriculation ceremony of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education Prof. Uche Eme-Uche, enjoined the students to position themselves as teachers and solution carriers in their various discipline.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader Abia House of Assembly Hon. Uchenna Okoro stated that the world has moved beyond certificate that decorate walls.
Hon. Okoro reiterated that the world demands skills that solve problems. He added that Nigeria does not lack talents but lacks discipline to execute and skilled hands to bring ideas to life.
In her speech, the Provost, Abia State College of Education (Technical) Arochukwu, Prof. Idowu Obukohwo Eluwa, expressed deep appreciation to the college visitor, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for his remarkable infrastructural transformation which are investments in the future of students and the advancement of teacher and technical education in Abia State.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Rector Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Prof. Christopher Okoro, the representative of Vice Chancellor Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Prof. Nneoma Obasi and Chief David Ogba Onuoha stressed that vision without discipline is hallucination. They urged the students to have vision to impact, create jobs, reduce dependency and restore dignity to the world.
