Foster Global Competitiveness Through Innovation, Gov Otti Tasks Nigeria British University

Abia state  Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has charged the Nigeria British University in Ukwa West LGA to develop global competitiveness through technological innovation to ensure practical and relevant academic experience.

Governor Otti who gave the charge when the university management led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi visited him at the Government House Umuahia, urged them to be focused and committed in preparing a future generation capable of matching their contemporaries.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba noted that his administration came with a mandate to rebuild the state, and is passionate in driving excellence in the education, infrastructural, waste management and health sectors of the state.

The Governor thanked the university management for coming to identify and partner the government and stressed the need for them to look beyond mere establishment of the school but to identify challenges and creatively profer sustainable solutions in dealing with present day challenges.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Nigeria British University, Ukwa West LGA, Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi described the school as a world class private university with focus on providing the needed high quality human resource training for self reliance.

Prof. Fawehinmi commended Governor Otti for his giant strides across the state and informed him on the award of scholarships by the government to 20 Abians out of which 5 are to come from Ukwa West LG.

He stressed the need to endorse the necessary formalities of the state government for the selection of the 20 beneficiaries and provision of financial backings for implementation of the scholarship scheme in the university.

The Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo among other top government officials were present during the visit.
