Former Abia PDP Chairman Calls For Respect To Charter Of Equity

A former Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party,(PDP) Senator Emma Nwaka has called on Political stakeholders to respect the State Charter of Equity by returning the Governorship position to Abia North Senatorial zone.

The three zones in the State have all taken their turns in producing the governor of the State beginning with Dr Orji Uzor Kalu for Abia North zone, Senator T.A Orji, Abia Central and the incumbent, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for Abia South.

Senator Nwaka who represented Abia North in the second republic made the call when he held a consultative meeting with the enlarged State Working Committee of the party at the PDP Secretariat in Umuahia where he formerly declared interest to run for the Governorship position.

A source at the Party Secretariat disclosed to National Ambassador that Senator Nwaka may have been the first to declare his intention before the party’s State Working Committee.

Also recall that the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial D myistrict at the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe had during a visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, disclosed his intention to succeed the governor come 2023.

Nwaka, who was also a former State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said he was in the race to help actualise the dreams of Abia founding fathers while maintaining that he was divinely inspired to lead the Abia re-birth effort.

He urged the party not to truncate the Abia Charter of Equity which recommended power rotation among the four Divisions from which the Abia acronym was formed.

According to him, Isuikwuato which represents the letter “I” in Abia acronym is the only bloc yet to taste power, and should be allowed to produce the governor come 2023.

“Don’t short-circuit the dreams of our founding fathers by denying the people of Isuikwuato Division what is due them this time.

” I believe I am the best man for the job if credibility and integrity are traits to be considered. With me in the saddle, Abia will be truly great.

“I am the safest hand to be trusted with the governance of our state because you know that from my antecedents I will run an inclusive Government with sincerity of purpose and transparency”, he said.

Nwaka also advised the party leadership against “political moonlighters whose stock in trade is to appear at every election cycle with loads of cash in search of platforms for the sole purpose of grabbing power.

Responding, PDP Chairman, Dr. Asiforo Okere, described Sen. Nwaka as a man of high integrity and commended him for the courage to seek the party’s ticket for the governorship race assuring that PDP would provide equal opportunity for all aspirants seeking the party’s ticket at all levels.
