It was an epoch making event in Umuahia, as its Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (UCCIMA), installed Hon. Chidi Nkem Aruoma as her 6th president.
The event which took place at the Royal Damgrete Hotel Umuahia, had in attendance for the first time, foreign Ambassadors including the Ambassador for Bangladesh, Md.Shameem Ahsan, Ambassador for Tanzania, Muhidini Ally Mboweto, Ambassador for Jamaica, Ann Scott, Ambassador for Iran, Morteza Rahimi Zarchi, Ambassador for Kuwait, Abdulaziz Al. Sharrah, Ambassador for Rwanda, Stanislas Kamanzi, witnessing an investiture in Umuahia.
In an interview with newsmen, Hon Aruoma who expressed appreciation to God, said he feels challenged and at the same time motivated with the new position.
According to him, there is nothing on ground to excel with as his predecessors did not see any potential in Umuahia, while promising that before the expiration of his tenure , he would have harnessed the potentials in the state making it number one in terms of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture, said he would bless the land of Umuahia so it can produce accurately for him.
Hon. Aruoma said he would dig into the hidden potentials of Abians and discover resources that are lying dormant, laying emphasis on the recent discovery of calcium at the mechanic village, Ohia, but with nothing done about it.
He revealed that the land of umuahia would produce well under his watch, restating that ‘it is what you bless a land with that is what it reproduces’.
Furthermore, he promised to set up a digest which has never happened before, so that people can be able to look at what UCCIMA has done pictorially, with the launching of their website, showcasing activities that have to do with trade and investment.
However, Aruoma revealed that the membership to chamber of commerce is open to people from all works of life, provided one has an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to create employment and wealth,geared towards promoting trade and investment.
Finally, he assured Abians that his administration will make a remarkable impact in the world of trade and commerce. In his words “I am prepared with my team of executives to go all the way out and see what we can get and move forward.”
