FMC set to partner Abia youths

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi has expressed readiness in partnering with Abia Youth Congress to provide jobs for the teeming unemployed in Abia state once waiver is secure from the Federal Government.
Dr. Onyebuchi who disclosed this during a courtesy visit of Abia Youth Congress recently in Umuahia, advised youths to shun social vices.
The CMD expressed worries that the hospital has been overburdened with patients that would have been taken Care of at the primary and secondary healthcare levels, adding that steps have been taken to stop patients being laid on the floor, especially at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital.
“Plans are underway to build a modern new Accident and Emergency complex that will accommodate those lapses. Within the next two years, this will be realized for it is in our 2019 budget”, he further stated.
The Ibeku-born medical practitioner, further promised to make the tertiary health care, patients-centre and people’s friendly where anyone can get quality and affordable healthcare without stress.
Earlier in his speech, the president of Abia Youth Congress, Engr. Comr. Darlington Solomon said that the visit of the group was to familiarise and congratulate their fellow youth – Dr. Onyebuchi on his elevation as the new CMD, FMC Umuahia.
The youth leader, further revealed that unemployment among Abia youths is at a suffocating level and called on the CMD to help salvage this ugly situation by employing Abia youths in their health institution.
This, he, said will curb thuggery, cultism among other criminal cities in Abia and Nigeria as a whole.
He added that the group will continue to sensitize youths in Abia and beyond to shun cultism, thuggery among other social vices and embrace Godly virtues.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of an award to the CMD by the group.
