Fish out those using keke to perpetrate crime – Chief Mbaonu

The General patron of the Abia State Almagamated Tricycles Operators Association (ASATOA), Chief Jerry Mbaonu, has urged the newly elected officers of the ASATOA,to fish out those using tricycles also known as Keke to perpetrate crime in Umuahia.

You recall that recently the state government banned the operation of tricycles around the umuahia metropolis from 7:00p.m,as a result of the high rate of crime ,it is used to commit.
Chief Mbaonu who spoke with our reporter in Umuahia during the election of new officers that will pilot the affairs of ASATOA in the next dispensation ,said the newly elected officers as a matter of urgency should root out those using keke to commit crimes that have necessitated the ban of keke operation from 7:00p.m in Umuahia.
He said if the union leaders can single out the bad eggs among them,government might lift the ban.
Reacting to the issue ,the newly elected chairman of ASATOA,Comr. Nduka Awomuku,said he would ensure no keke operator operates without belonging to any union,stressing that it would help reduce the rate they indulge in crime.

Comr. Awomuku said apart from fishing out criminals who use keke to commit crime,he would develop a cordial relationship between the government and keke operators,reduce the level of intimidation keke operators get from security agencies and traffic operatives,as well as bring ASATOA closer to God.
He also emphatically stated that no keke user would be allowed to operate without first belonging to a union.
