FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: France Beat Brazil

Brazil’s hope of qualifying for the round of 16 with a match to spare was dashed by France, who put their opening match disappointment behind them to defeat Brazil 2-1 in Brisbane.

The French ladies opened scoring in the 17th minute through Eugenie le Sommer, but, Brazil battled hard for the equalizer and were rewarded 13 minutes into the second half when Debinha restored parity.

France needed the three points more after playing a goalless draw in their first match with Jamaica, they went for it and got it through captain Wendie Renard who headed in the winner with seven minutes to full time.
