FIFA Women’s World Cup: Colombia, France Reach Last Eight

Colombia and France reached the last eight of the ongoing Women’s World Cup and set up quarter-final battles with England and Australia respectively.

Colombia reached their first-ever quarter-final at the Women’s World Cup with a hard-earned lone-goal victory over Jamaica. It was the first time the Jamaican ladies conceded a goal at this World Cup and it was a huge goal that put an end to their reggae dancing at the World Cup.

The only goal was scored by Catalina Usme in the 51st minute.

Colombia will take on European champions England, who eliminated Nigeria at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Saturday.

Similarly, France sent the last African team still standing at the World Cup home when they thrashed Morocco 4-0 in Adelaide.

Eugenie Le Sommer scored twice while Kadidiatou Diani and  Kenza Dali scored a goal each to tame the Atlas Lionesses.

France will now face Australia in the last eight in Brisbane on Saturday.
